This iconic 1978 Sri Lankan drama was written and directed by the legendary filmmaker Sumitra Peries and produced by her husband, Lester James Peries. The film holds a special place in Sinhala cinema, introducing Vasanthi Chathurani to the screen and featuring Ajith Jinadasa in the main male role. Ajith Jinadasa is also the organizer of the film’s presentation in Canada.

The film is further celebrated for its timeless songs, including “Wiyo Gee Gayena Hade” (වියෝ ගී ගැයෙනා හදේ) performed by Neela Wickramasinghe and “Gehenu Lamaine” (ගැහැණු ළමයිනේ) performed by Victor Rathnayake.
