ABOUT US

Prasanna Pathiraja Law​ (PPL) assists refugees and immigrants in rebuilding their lives. The law firm offers a variety of services, including asylum representation, refugee resettlement, and legal aid.  PPL believes that refugees deserve a fair chance to begin a new and start over as most claimants have fled their homes due to war, persecution, or violence.​ Experiencing trauma, they may have lost everything they own, and they may not even speak the language of their new country. ​PPL staff understands these parameters. ​PPL assists refugees every step of the way and works to understand their legal options and rights. ​PPL staff help clients connect with available resources and appropriate support services to rebuild lives in Canada.

THE STAFF

CHANDI RATHNAYAKA –

Office Manager

Chandi Rathnayaka is an LLB graduate and internationally trained lawyer with a diploma in Community Service Work in Canada. She has experience working with vulnerable and marginalized communities in Canada; which includes refugees, newcomers, and LGBTQ individuals.

​NICK PANDIT –

Settlement & Employment Manager

Nick Pandit has over twenty-five (25) years of work experience with organizations such as IBM, Ford Motor Company, and the Canadian nuclear industry. His undergraduate degree is from York University and he obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Toronto in Developing Human Resources. In terms of his pro bono activities, he has been an Executive Board Member of several organizations such as the Workforce Development Board (Peterborough), Richmond Hill Food Bank, Northumberland Manufacturer’s Association, and Community Living West Northumberland.
